The large Amitaba Buddha sculpture at the Phoenix Hall of Byōdō-in Temple in Uji is visible during a special nighttime illumination. This particular westward-looking image is close to that on the 10-yen coin. The hall itself was completed in 1053 and the statue also dates from that time. The hall was restored in 2013 with a vermilion paint job.
